I thought this was going to be one of those ‘grammable eye-candy restaurants. You know the ones—beautiful interior design, stunning views, and food that’s just meh. All style and no substance.
And I’m oh so glad Voltereta Tanzania proved me wrong. Not only is this restaurant absolutely awe-worthy, but it’s affordable, memorable, and—most important of all—satisfyingly delicious.
The Vibe: A Luxury Experience With Everyday Prices
From the moment you walk in the door, you step into a dining experience completely centered on the guest. (And that’s something that’s hard to find abroad—unless you’re willing to drop a grand at a fancy-pantzy restaurant.)
A reception area decorated as whimsically as a Disneyland ride. Beautifully-designed “souvenirs” that double as business cards. Bilingual waiters who treat you like royalty.
Not to mention the stunning safari immersion experience you step into upstairs… Complete with relaxing instrumental Lion King music, a life-sized jeep wrangler, and stylish safari tents you’ll dine below.
Yep, it’s Instagram-worthy. You won’t be able to help yourself from filling your camera roll with luxe Tanzania vibes. Wasn’t she in Spain? How did she end up in Africa? Your followers will shake their heads in awe and amazement.
And we haven’t even gotten to the food!

An Affordable (And Filling) Lunch Menu
As soon as I bit into a shredded oxtail gyoza, my expectations were upended. This place isn’t just pretty—it’s delicious. Each tender bite of magically flavorful meat and soft dumpling made me fall deeper and deeper in love with this unique restaurant.
And the affordable lunch menu option sealed the deal—this place is a must-try!
Monday through Friday (except on holidays, which are frequent in Spain), you can get a lunch menu for just €16.90 ($19 USD). It includes:
A starter,
A main course, and
Dessert (or coffee)
There are 5 different starter options to choose from, 4 main course options, and 4 dessert options. You’ll have to buy something to drink separately, but it’s a great option—especially considering the gastronomic quality and the dining experience.

What We Ordered & What I Loved
We started off with the oxtail gyozas and the Okinawa tempura shrimp tacos—both 10/10 in my book. Four tender, flavorful, meat-packed gyozas were served in a thick, savory beef broth that catapulted this dish into my heart. This starter was filling!
The shrimp tacos—with their crispy tempura and dreamy sauces—transported me back to Mikuni, my favorite sushi restaurant of all time. If you’re a sushi fan, this is the starter for you.
But the freshly-baked, crackly soft bread was what stole my husband’s heart. We devoured that loaf of charred, wheaty bread (with the black garlic alioli) faster than a New York minute.
Then, the main dishes arrived. I went for the Over The Sky Secret: a classic Iberian pork loin atop truffled mashed potatoes. It was filling, it was savory, and it was pipin’ hot.

But my husband’s Kilimanjaro Butter Chicken was even tastier. He loves chicken curry, and this one did not disappoint. With spicy sauce, basmati rice, and crushed cashews on top, this dish was the winner.
By then, we were full—but never too full for dessert! The Indian Coconut—coconut panna cotta with caramelized pineapple on top—was the perfect sweet-treat finish to this outstanding lunch experience.
Voltereta Tanzania’s menu has something for everyone. With Asian-inspired dishes, classic Indian curry, Spanish favorites, and Italian options, this fusion restaurant gives you a taste of the whole world!
The Price Tag: Lunch for Two
The grand total came out to €43.50 ($49 USD). That’s pretty good for an unforgettable lunch for two. With typical lunch menus in Spain ranging from €14-16, paying just a bit more for a luxury foodie experience at Voltereta Tanzania is well worth it.
The Million-Dollar Question: Would you come back?
Most definitely. In fact, I’m planning on bringing my friends and family here when they come to visit in Spain! Plus, I still need to try the Iberian-Cantonese Bao and the Voltareta Tortilla de Patata.
