Cala Moraig is the one beach you absolutely MUST visit during your trip to Spain. If you’re visiting Alicante, Benidorm, or Valencia, it’s the best beach day trip on this stretch of the beautiful Spanish coast.
With amazing views, crystal-clear water, fantastic snorkeling, and Instagrammable sea caves, it might just become your favorite part of the whole trip!
You see, visiting Cala Moraig isn’t just another day at the beach. It’s a complete experience. From the incredible views you’ll see on the drive there to the unforgettable walk down to the beach and the perfect day under the sun—you’ll love every part of this memorable day trip.
I’ve lived in Alicante for two years and I’ve visited beaches all over the Costa Blanca—and Cala Moraig is the most stunning beach I’ve been to yet.
Here’s everything you need to know to visit Cala Moraig during your trip to Spain:
How to Get to Cala Moraig From Alicante or Benidorm
The best way to get to Cala Moraig is by car. From Alicante, it’s about a 1.5 hour drive. From Benidorm, it’s about a 1 hour drive.
Cala Moraig is located in the Cumbre del Sol neighborhood in the coastal town of Benitatxell. The drive down to the beach cove will take you through windy neighborhood roads on the coastal cliffs that overlook the beach.
As you enter these neighborhoods, you’ll see the signs for Cala Moraig. It’s very clearly marked, so you won’t get lost. Follow the signs and they’ll take you down to the parking lot.

How to Get to Cala Moraig From Valencia
Cala Moraig is about a 2 hour drive from Valencia. The best way to get there is to rent a car and use Google Maps. As mentioned above, once you get close to the beach there are signs that will direct you to the parking lot.
Don’t have a car? No worries. Check out this fantastic day-trip option from Valencia. You’ll take a bus to the beach, have free time to swim, snorkel, and explore, then go on an optional guided coastal hike to incredible spots above the sea cove.
Parking at Cala Moraig
From April 1 to October 15, parking at Cala Moraig costs 15€ (17$) per vehicle. You can pay at the kiosk (card only, no cash accepted) or via the online platform here. You don’t need to leave the ticket or receipt in your car either; the parking system uses cameras to validate your license plate number.
While there are lots of parking spots, I recommend coming early to make the most of your day at the beach.
Things to Do At Cala Moraig
Once you park your car and pay, follow the signs that say “Cala Moraig” to find the path down to the beach. It’s about a 10 minute walk downhill, and it’s a stunning little stroll! Take a few moments to enjoy the panoramic views of the coast, the incredible cliffs that surround the beach, and the turquoise water down below.
Once you get to Cala Moraig, make sure you try these fun activities:
Snorkeling—There are tons of little fish all around the rocky ocean floor at Cala Moraig. At one point, I was swimming above a huge drop off and seeing hundreds of tiny little black fish beneath me. There were so many fish that I felt like I was inside an aquarium!
Kayaking—Explore Cala de Los Testos, a stunning nearby sea cove, by kayak! This awesome tour takes you to impressive coastal spots in kayak—and, you get to snorkel and cliff jump along the way!
Paddleboarding—If you have a paddleboard, this is a great place to explore! In the summer, there aren’t a lot of waves and you can paddle to nearby sea coves and explore! (Rent a stand-up paddleboard here in Moraira.)
Cliff Jumping—There’s a small cliff jumping spot on the far side of the beach (furthest from the entrance road). Climb to the top and get great views (and videos) while jumping into the ocean!
Sea Cave Exploration—Make sure you don’t miss exploring Cueva de los Arcos, a sea cave right by the entrance road to the beach. Slide under the wooden railing and carefully climb down to the sea cove. It’s a stunning work of nature that lends itself to impressive photos!
Coastal Hiking—Hike to Cala Llebeig, a secluded nearby sea cove. If you’d like to go with a guide, this day trip from Valencia takes you on a stunning coastal hike on the cliffs above Cala Moraig.

What to Know Before You Go
To make your day trip to Cala Moraig as enjoyable as possible, make sure you keep the following in mind:
There are no restaurants at the beach. There is only a little food kiosk that sells snacks in the parking lot. Bring your own lunch and bring lots of water!
Water shoes are a great idea. The beach at Cala Moraig is not a sandy beach. There are lots of small, smooth rocks that you’ll hobble over while walking on the beach. Water shoes can make your time at Cala Moraig much more enjoyable.
Bring your own snorkel gear! Unless you’re going with a tour, there are no places to rent or buy snorkel equipment at Cala Moraig. Make sure you bring your own snorkel gear so you can enjoy the ocean.
Prepare yourself to walk uphill. The walk down to the beach is fantastic, and it only takes about 10 minutes. But, what comes up must come down (well, in this case, what walks down, must walk up). The hike uphill back to the parking lot can be strenuous for injured, pregnant, or elderly travelers.
When is The Best Time to Visit Cala Moraig?
Cala Moraig can get pretty busy during the summer months. Since the beach itself isn’t huge, I recommend coming early in the summer months if you want to snag a good spot at the beach.
However, in my opinion, the best months to visit Cala Moraig are June and September. The weather is still fantastic (around 80°F, 27°C), and the beach is much less crowded. During these shoulder-season months, you’ll have a much more enjoyable trip and still be able to enjoy all the activities listed in this guide.
